2016年10月29日现代荆州花鼓戏《小城大爱》在荆州凯乐大剧院首演。全剧以“东方之星”号客轮翻沉事件为背景，刻画了监利县党员干部刘群香在灾难发生后舍己为人、与众人合力帮助遇难者家属，通过“满城尽飘黄丝带”等场景，传递了小城的温暖、人性的光辉。
